Congratulations to the Coaches and Gymnasts who participated in the Elite Team Cup Championships. Region 7 finished 3rd place in the Elite Team Cup Championships and the Junior Team Cup Championships that took place in conjunction with the 2016 American Cup on March 5, 2016. This elite event showcased 6 athletes from each of the 9 Regions of the United States plus a selected Senior athlete from the 2016 Winter Cup.

2016 OLYMPIC TEAM
The members of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Menís Gymnastics Team, pending approval by the United States Olympic Committee, are: Chris Brooks of Houston, Texas/Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center); Jake Dalton of Sparks, Nev./Team Hilton (University of Oklahoma); Sam Mikulak of Newport Coast, Calif./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center); Alex Naddour of Queen Creek, Ariz./Team Hilton (USA Youth Fitness); and John Orozco of Bronx, N.Y./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center).
USA Gymnastics also announced that Danell Leyva of Miami/Team Hilton (Universal Gymnastics), Akash Modi of Morganville, N.J./Stanford University, and Donnell Whittenburg, Baltimore, Md./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), are the replacement athletes for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Men's Gymnastics Team. Mark Williams, head coach for the University of Oklahomaís menís gymnastics program, was named head coach for the 2016 squad.

The online NCAA Release Form is ready for 2017. Coaches inform your athletes to complete this release if they want to be recruited by college coaches this season. It can also be found under the JO Nationals event logo on the USA Gymnastics web page: https://usagym.org/pages/men/events/program_events.html.
The 2017 Academic All-American Recognition online submission is open. Coaches remind the 9-12 grade athletes to visit this page for requirements if they are interested in submitting for this award. In September, the JOPC voted to take scholarship applications once a year and due by May 15. College bound high school seniors are welcome to apply.
